Malacañang sees no need to release a medical bulletin on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s condition a week after his hospitalization for diverticulitis.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President’s own assurance that he is feeling well should suffice, noting that medical bulletins are typically issued only in serious cases.
Castro added that updates on the President’s health are already being provided and stressed that it is Marcos’ prerogative to speak about his own condition.
Earlier on Wednesday, Marcos administered the oath of office to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. at Malacañang Palace.
However, he did not attend the Pagpupugay 2025: Parangal sa mga Lingkod Bayani ceremony held the same day, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto representing him instead.
Castro said it is up to the President to decide which engagements to attend as he continues his recovery.
In a message to reporters, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said Marcos is showing steady progress but may still limit public appearances while focusing on critical duties.
