The Office of the President has approved the revised overseas travel schedule of Vice President Sara Duterte, Malacañang said on Saturday.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed the approval when asked by reporters, simply replying, “Confirmed.”
She said the approved travel period covers May 2 to 15.
Castro added that the authorization was issued on April 28 and covers trips to the Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Belgium, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
The Office of the Vice President, however, said it had no confirmation yet on whether Duterte would depart on May 2 as earlier planned.
Duterte had originally requested approval for travel from April 23 to May 15, which was initially granted by the Palace before changes in her schedule.
She later said the approval came late and indicated she would submit a revised travel request due to adjustments in her plans.
Malacañang earlier rejected claims that the approval was issued at the last minute, saying travel authorizations are typically granted a day before scheduled departure.
Duterte has recently skipped hearings of the House Committee on Justice related to impeachment complaints against her, while the panel is set to reconvene on May 4 to finalize its report and Articles of Impeachment.
