Pakistan called on the United States and Iran to avoid actions that could further destabilize the Middle East, warning that another round of conflict would serve no one’s interest.
In a statement Wednesday, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the region.
Islamabad urged all sides to show restraint and avoid steps that could weaken regional peace and security.
The ministry said sustained engagement, dialogue and diplomacy remained the only viable path toward the shared goal of peace in the region.
Pakistan also called on Washington and Tehran to honor their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The agreement, reached on June 17, was aimed at ending the military conflict that followed US and Israeli attacks on Tehran in February.
The ministry said Pakistan was prepared to continue playing a role in efforts to preserve the understanding and support regional stability.
The appeal came after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported missile and drone strikes on US military sites in the region, while the US Central Command said it had carried out fresh strikes on more than 80 targets in Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
