Pakistan and Canada held discussions on Monday focusing on recent diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, according to official statements from both sides.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the ongoing talks as a significant step toward peace and called for continued efforts to maintain a ceasefire.

He also urged both parties to pursue de-escalation and work toward long-term regional stability, his office said.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney acknowledged Pakistan’s role in supporting efforts that contributed to the temporary truce and related discussions.

Both leaders also reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to expand cooperation in key sectors such as agriculture, clean energy, mining, and investment.

Sharif extended an invitation for Carney to visit Pakistan, with both sides agreeing to maintain regular communication.

The talks followed recent indirect and direct engagements between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending hostilities that began in late February.

However, those discussions reportedly ended without an agreement after talks concluded over the weekend.
