PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco expresses his gratitude to the Newport World Resort for hosting the 2nd leg of the PAGCOR Photo Exhibit during the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 3 at The Grove, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City.

Nation-building takes center stage in visual form as the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled the second leg of its 2025 Photography Contest Exhibit at The Grove of Newport Mall on March 3, in collaboration with Newport World Resorts.

The traveling exhibit features the 48 grand finalists whose works revolve around the theme “Infrastructure for Economic Development.”

From sweeping drone shots of expressways to intimate ground-level captures of ports, airports, and energy facilities, the images document the backbone of the Philippine economy — the physical systems that move people, power industries, and unlock regional growth.

More than a technical showcase, the collection reframes infrastructure as a lived experience. Highways become arteries of commerce. Bridges stand as symbols of connectivity.

Transport terminals and power plants emerge as quiet enablers of opportunity. Shot using mobile phones, drones, and traditional cameras, the entries reflect both accessibility and artistic range, underscoring how development can be seen through multiple lenses.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco described the exhibit as a reminder that public investments yield visible, measurable impact.

“These photographs show infrastructure not just as structures, but as pathways of progress that connect communities, energize industries, and expand opportunities,” Tengco said during the launch. He added that responsible governance and strategic planning translate into outcomes that ordinary citizens can directly feel and benefit from.

For Newport World Resorts President and CEO Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez, hosting the exhibit aligns with the group’s commitment to supporting platforms that highlight national advancement alongside Filipino creativity.

“We are honored to host this exhibit because these photographs illustrate how infrastructure development shapes everyday life,” Rodriguez said. “We thank PAGCOR for providing avenues that celebrate Filipino talent while keeping the country’s development story front and center.”

The Newport Mall staging follows the exhibit’s initial run in September 2025 at MET Live Mall, also in Pasay City. As part of a nationwide tour, the collection aims to reach broader audiences, reinforcing the message that infrastructure is not an abstract policy concept but a visible driver of inclusive growth. The exhibit will remain open to the public until March 27 before traveling to Cebu and Davao later this month.

The launch also served as a platform to announce PAGCOR’s 2026 Photography Contest, themed “Kids@Play.” The upcoming competition shifts focus to candid scenes of childhood — moments of joy, discipline, imagination, and sportsmanship that reflect the everyday energy of Filipino youth.

Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to participate, with submissions accepted until June 30. Through successive themes, PAGCOR continues to merge artistry with public narrative, using photography not only to document progress, but to spark reflection on the country’s evolving story.
