Warm and humid conditions are expected to persist across the Visayas in the coming days, with state weather officials warning of elevated heat index levels.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said easterly winds continue to influence the region, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated to scattered rain showers, mostly later in the day.

The weather agency noted that while rainfall may increase slightly in the afternoons and evenings, it will offer only brief relief from the heat.

In areas near Mt. Kanlaon and parts of Negros, temperatures were projected to range from 26°C to 33°C until May 5, with heat index values reaching up to 39°C, classified under extreme caution.

Similar conditions were expected in Northern Cebu, which remains under monitoring following a recent earthquake, with generally light to moderate sea conditions.

In Iloilo, particularly in Lambunao, temperatures were forecast to reach around 34°C, while heat index levels could climb to as high as 41°C in the first days of May.

Authorities said these conditions may lead to heat-related illnesses such as cramps and exhaustion, especially during peak hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Residents were advised to limit outdoor exposure, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions, as no major weather disturbances are expected but high heat index levels and localized thunderstorms will likely continue.
