Pakistan’s military said on Thursday that its forces killed 13 suspected militants in two separate operations conducted near the country’s border with Afghanistan.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mohmand district, troops reportedly intercepted a group attempting to cross from Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals identified as militants.
A separate operation in North Waziristan district led to the killing of five more suspected militants who were also trying to enter Pakistani territory, the military said.
The armed forces said the incidents highlighted what it described as continued gaps in border control on the Afghan side.
It reiterated its position urging the authorities in Kabul to fulfill their responsibilities in preventing the use of Afghan territory for cross-border attacks.
The military linked the operations to ongoing security concerns in the region, where Pakistan has faced recurring militant activity in recent years.
It has previously said that some attacks inside the country were carried out by groups it associates with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan operating from Afghan soil, an allegation denied by Kabul.
No immediate comment was issued by the Afghan government regarding the latest military statement.
