PAGASA: Two weather systems to bring rains across most of the country

Most parts of the Philippines will experience rains due to two weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said that while Tropical Storm Quedan (international name: Nakri) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is unlikely to affect local weather and sea conditions, a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 335 kilometers west-northwest of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan as of 2 a.m.

The LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours, but its trough will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Meanwhile, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will also experience similar weather conditions due to the southwesterly windflow, which could trigger flash floods or landslides in areas with moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon will have isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms, while moderate winds and moderate seas are expected over extreme Northern Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA added.
