The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has launched a new loan program to help government employees purchase laptops, tablets, and mobile phones needed for work or study.
Starting October 10, members can apply for the Digital Ginhawa Loan through the GSIS Touch mobile app for a fast and paperless process. Approved loans will be credited directly to the member’s GSIS ATM account within one to three banking days after agency approval.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the new loan program acknowledges the increasing need for digital tools among public servants adapting to remote and hybrid work setups.
“Alam natin ang realidad. Sa work-from-home at online learning, ang computers at gadgets ay pangangailangan na, hindi luho. Kaya inilunsad natin ang Digital Ginhawa Loan para matulungan ang ating mga miyembro na magkaroon ng mga kagamitan para sa kanilang trabaho at pag-aaral,” Veloso said.
The loan supports GSIS’ digital transformation efforts by encouraging members to use the GSIS Touch app for transactions such as loan applications, record updates, and access to pension and insurance services.
It follows the success of the 2020 GSIS Computer Loan Program, which benefited over 355,000 members and released more than PHP10.67 billion in loans.
To qualify, members must be permanent employees in active service, have no pending administrative or criminal case, and no defaulted GSIS loans (except for housing or computer loans). The new loan also includes loan redemption insurance to cover the remaining balance in case of the borrower’s death during repayment.
