Generally fair weather is expected in most parts of the country this weekend as former Tropical Storm Henry moved farther away and stopped enhancing the southwest monsoon, Pagasa said Friday.
Pagasa said Henry no longer had a direct effect on the country after leaving the Philippine area of responsibility.
The weather agency said southwest monsoon, or Habagat, had also weakened, resulting in fewer clouds over the western sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
Despite the improved weather, Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may still experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
The weather bureau said localized thunderstorms would remain the main cause of brief rains in many areas.
Easterlies, meanwhile, are expected to affect Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Aurora, and Quezon, bringing cloudy skies and occasional rains.
Pagasa is also monitoring Typhoon Bavi outside PAR, located more than 3,400 kilometers away from the Philippines, although it is not expected to affect the country this weekend.
They added that Bavi may enter PAR by Tuesday or Wednesday next week and will be named Inday. He said the typhoon has a high chance of becoming a super typhoon and may enhance Habagat, possibly bringing heavy rains by Wednesday, July 8.
