PAGASA declares end of Habagat season in PH

MANILA – DOST-PAGASA has officially declared the end of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat season in the Philippines following a gradual shift in the country’s prevailing weather pattern.

The state weather bureau said several atmospheric changes have been observed over the past several days, including the strengthening of the high-pressure system over East Asia and the southward movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

PAGASA also noted a significant weakening of winds and a decrease in rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon.

Weather forecasts indicate that these conditions are likely to persist in the coming days, prompting the agency to officially declare the termination of the Habagat season.

Despite the declaration, PAGASA continues to advise the public to monitor official weather forecasts and advisories as other weather systems may still bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of the country.
