Authorities arrested a drug suspect and confiscated P6.8 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday night, an official said Tuesday.
In a statement, Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, information officer of the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9), said the suspect is a 50-year-old resident of Barangay Arena Blanco in this city.
The suspect’s name was withheld pending the filing of formal charges.
The operation conducted by the PRO-9 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU-9) took place at around 7:25 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion.
Seized from the suspect were one kilogram of shabu, packed in a plastic bag, along with the buy-bust money and a mobile phone.
The suspect is currently detained at the Zamboanga Sibugay police provincial office and faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Monday’s arrest followed a similar operation by RDEU-9 on Sunday, where a militiaman yielded another P6.8 million worth of shabu in Zamboanga City. (PNA)
