P190M+ UNDISCLOSED IN SALNs: PROSECUTION CITES YEARLY BANK BALANCES OF VP SARA, MANS CARPIO

MANILA – The House prosecution panel is set to present records showing what it says are more than P190 million in combined year-end bank balances from 2022 to 2025 belonging to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio, which prosecutors allege were not reflected in Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.

The presentation forms part of Article II of the impeachment complaint, which accuses Duterte of alleged unexplained wealth and failure to fully disclose assets and liabilities.

Earlier testimony from the Office of the Ombudsman showed that Duterte’s SALNs from 2019 through 2025 carried no declared cash on hand or bank deposits.

Under Republic Act 6713, SALNs are required to include assets such as investments, cash on hand or in banks, stocks and bonds, as well as liabilities and business interests.

The prosecution has argued that the financial records should be examined alongside Duterte’s declared assets, lawful income and tax records. Duterte’s defense has disputed allegations of unexplained wealth during the proceedings.

The specific P190-million-plus figure cited Tuesday remains a prosecution allegation that must still be established through the presentation and authentication of the underlying bank records before the impeachment court.
