Marcos heads to Singapore for investment push, nuclear cooperation

MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will travel to Singapore from Oct. 7 to 11 for a working visit aimed at attracting investments and strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

Marcos is scheduled to attend the 24th Forbes Global CEO Conference, where he is expected to engage business leaders from Singapore and other countries and present investment opportunities in the Philippines. The conference will be held on Oct. 7 and 8 and is expected to gather hundreds of chief executives, entrepreneurs, investors and thought leaders.

The President is expected to highlight opportunities in sectors including artificial intelligence, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, energy and healthcare as the government seeks to draw more foreign investments into the country.

Marcos will also visit the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute to learn from Singapore’s experience and expertise in nuclear technology, research and safety. The visit is expected to explore possible cooperation in nuclear science and capacity-building.

The DFA said the working visit forms part of efforts to deepen Philippines-Singapore relations, expand economic engagement and strengthen cooperation in sectors that could support the country’s development.

Marcos is also expected to meet Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments

The trip comes as the Philippines approaches the end of its ASEAN chairship, with Singapore set to assume the regional bloc’s chairmanship in 2027.
