Nearly 600 drug suspects were arrested in Iloilo City as police seized more than Php 102 million worth of illegal drugs during an eight-month crackdown.

The Iloilo City Police Office reported 593 arrests from January through August following 487 separate anti-drug operations across the city.

Police said the confiscated drugs included 15,062 grams of suspected shabu and 98.5 grams of marijuana, with a combined estimated value of Php 102.4 million.

High-value individuals accounted for 162 of those arrested, while another 413 were classified as street-level individuals.

The remaining arrests involved seven suspects who were not included in those classifications and 11 people apprehended through warrants.

ICPO Director Col. Wilbert Parilla said police intended to maintain the pace of operations against the illegal drug trade regardless of holidays or regular working days.

Parilla attributed part of the results to residents who provided information and cooperated with law enforcement efforts.

He said continued coordination between police and communities would remain part of the city’s campaign against illegal drugs.
