P10-M tourist rest area to open in Lingayen

A new Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Lingayen town is set to open to the public in the coming months, offering essential amenities and services for visitors, according to the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO).

Marco Sales, a tourism operations officer at PTCAO, confirmed during a forum on Wednesday that the facility has been completed and is now in its final preparations for opening.

“It has a charging station, pasalubong center, and possibly a café. There are restrooms for visitors and shower rooms for beachgoers — it’s designed as a one-stop-shop for tourists,” Sales said.

The PHP10-million facility, funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), is located near Lingayen Beach and features eco-friendly elements, including solar-powered roofs and rain catchment systems.

Sales noted that this is the first TRA in Pangasinan and emphasized its potential to boost tourism in the province. “Once operational, the TRA will benefit local businesses, transport operators, and tourism stakeholders by improving visitor satisfaction and encouraging longer stays,” he said.

Construction of the facility began in February this year and is part of the provincial government’s efforts to position Pangasinan as a top tourist destination in northern Luzon.
