COTABATO CITY — More than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across the Soccsksargen Region starting Wednesday, October 28, to maintain peace and order and ensure public safety during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Police Regional Office-Soccsksargen Director Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog said the deployment forms part of intensified security preparations for Undas 2026, when thousands of residents are expected to visit cemeteries and memorial parks.

Police officers have been assigned to cemeteries, columbaria, churches, major thoroughfares, transportation terminals, and tourist destinations to monitor security and assist the public.

The regional police will also establish 152 Police Assistance Desks at cemeteries and burial sites to provide immediate assistance to visitors during the November 1 and 2 observances.

Manibog said the security operations will be supported by Barangay Peace Action Teams, local government units, and traffic enforcers to help manage crowds, regulate traffic, and maintain order in areas expecting large numbers of visitors.

“Our preparations are focused on ensuring the safety of every family visiting their departed loved ones,” Manibog said in a statement.

He also encouraged residents to cooperate with authorities, observe safety precautions, and immediately report suspicious activities to prevent security incidents.

“I urge the public to cooperate with the police, follow safety reminders, and immediately report any suspicious activities. Together, let us ensure a safe and peaceful observance of Undas 2026,” he added.

The deployment is part of the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Undas, which aims to strengthen police visibility and provide security assistance during the annual commemoration of departed loved ones.

The Soccsksargen Region covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, including the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Kidapawan, and Tacurong.

Police authorities assured the public that security personnel would remain on heightened alert throughout the observance to ensure the safety of cemetery visitors, motorists, and other travelers.
