MANILA – More than 100 families whose homes were damaged by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon received construction materials and shelter repair kits from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) in Apalit, Pampanga, on Tuesday.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. led the distribution of repair kits containing tools and other supplies, as well as construction materials, such as galvanized iron (GI) sheets, plywood, lumber, wire, and nails.

“Alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., ang DHSUD at NHA ay naghatid ng mga kinakailangang construction materials at repair kits para matulungang makabangon ang mga kababayan nating Kapampangan dito sa Apalit (In accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the DHSUD and NHA delivered essential construction materials and repair kits to help our fellow Kapampangans here in Apalit recover),” Aliling said.

“Kasama ang LGU (local government unit), asahan po ninyo na kaagapay ninyo ang gobyerno sa inyong pag-ahon mula sa epekto ng pagbaha (Together with the LGU, rest assured that the government is by your side as you recover from the effects of the flooding).”

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance as they continued recovering from weeks of flooding.

The distribution was part of the 2026 National Shelter Month celebration, which carries the theme “Tahanan. Pamayanan. Kinabukasan.”

Since early October, the DHSUD and its attached agencies have organized monthlong activities to provide housing services and assistance in various parts of the country.

The initiative also supports the department’s commitment to assist disaster-affected families under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program. (PNA)
