The possible sale of the NorthPort Batang Pier franchise remains in limbo as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) continues its careful review of the bid submitted by Pureblend.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed that Pureblend formally filed its letter of intent along with the other required documents. These have now been forwarded to the league’s review committee, which has been tasked to study the matter thoroughly.
“The process is ongoing. The letter of intent and supporting papers were submitted to the review committee, and they will come up with their recommendation,” Marcial explained.
Once the committee finalizes its assessment, its findings will be elevated to the PBA Board of Governors, who will make the final decision before the league tips off its milestone 50th season.
Despite the pending review, Marcial assured fans that NorthPort remains an active franchise in the meantime and will continue to participate in league activities, including this Sunday’s highly anticipated Annual Draft.
The potential sale of the franchise has been one of the hottest talking points leading up to Season 50, adding intrigue to what is already shaping up to be a historic year for the PBA.
