The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has secured all 28 luxury vehicles owned by the family of contractor Sarah Discaya, following revelations during a Senate inquiry into anomalous flood-control projects.
On Thursday, the agency confirmed that the Discaya family voluntarily surrendered 16 additional high-end cars. Earlier this week, the BOC had already seized 12 vehicles after serving a search warrant.
The seizures came just days after a tense Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on Monday, where Discaya admitted under oath that her family possessed 28 luxury cars. The admission drew sharp criticism from lawmakers, who questioned how such extravagant wealth could be amassed while public infrastructure projects remain under scrutiny.
Customs officials said the vehicles are now under official custody as part of ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities tied to the Discaya family’s business dealings.
The seized vehicles include, Mercedez Benz GLE, Land Rover Range Rover LWB, Land Rover Defender, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Ford Bronco, Mercedez Benz GLS 350, BMW X5 30D, Jaguar F-Pace 2.0D, Porsche Cayenne V6, Volvo XC90, Mercedez Benz Avant, LAND Rover Range Rover Evo-F, Mercedez Benz Sprinter, ATV Quicksand, Yukon Denali, and ATV Gray.
The development adds another dramatic twist to the widening probe into flood-control projects, a controversy that has already put contractors, government officials, and regulatory agencies under intense public and legislative scrutiny.
