MANILA – The northbound portion of the Dimasalang Bridge in Manila is now open to motorists, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Tuesday.
In a social media post, the department said the northbound side of the structure reopened to vehicles at 5 a.m. after four months of rehabilitation work.
The rehabilitation aimed to strengthen the bridge’s structure, ensuring its long-term safety and durability for all road users.
This initiative is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to maintain the safe condition of major bridges across Metro Manila.
Early this month, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the rehabilitation of the 56-year-old structure, which includes asphalt paving and the installation of railings.
The budget for the rehabilitation of the bridge, which began in May, was PHP160 million.
The DPWH said it continues to closely monitor the condition of the infrastructure to ensure a seamless flow of traffic, in line with the President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize public safety.
