No Filipinos were reported hurt following recent drone and ballistic missile attacks in Saudi Arabia, the Department of Migrant Workers said Monday.
The DMW said its Migrant Workers Offices in Saudi Arabia were closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the Philippine Embassy and Consulate and were ready to assist overseas Filipino workers who may need help.
The advisory came after Saudi authorities said air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces toward Riyadh early Saturday. Saudi Arabia has also reported a series of recent drone and missile attacks in other parts of the kingdom.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group targeted sites in Riyadh and facilities of state oil company Aramco in Yanbu, describing the operations as retaliation for attacks on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.
Saudi coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Malki said the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted the missile headed toward Riyadh on Sept. 19.
The DMW advised Filipinos in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions and advisories issued by local authorities.
