The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported damage to several transmission lines in Southwestern Mindanao following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck on Monday morning.

In its 9:30 a.m. update, NGCP said the affected lines serve parts of the Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM.

These include Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sarangani, South Cotabato, North Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat.

The grid operator said it was still assessing the full extent of the damage, particularly in areas closer to the epicenter.

NGCP reported that transmission services in several parts of the Davao Region had already been restored as of 8:20 a.m.

It added that power transmission in other Mindanao zones, including Northeastern, Northwestern, North Central, and Lanao areas, remained stable.

Technical teams were deployed on the ground to inspect affected facilities and verify system conditions following the quake.

NGCP said it would continue to release updates as restoration and assessment efforts progress across impacted areas.
