New textiles and tailoring hub opens at Kamuning Market to boost local businesses

A new four-story textiles and tailoring hub has opened at Kamuning Market, reinforcing the district’s status as a key center for fabrics and custom clothing in Metro Manila. The building houses 176 stalls for textile retailers, tailors, and modistes, along with a showroom, function hall, two elevators, parking spaces, and upgraded electrical systems.

Barangay Chairperson Armie Castel said the hub will help maintain Kamuning’s leading position in the fabric and tailoring industry. While many vendors have moved to the new facility, some continue to operate in the main market and nearby shops.

“This hub is a new start for the textile, tailoring, and modiste microenterprises of Kamuning,” said Councilor Jeremiah “Pong” Ching, who also leads the Retailers of Kamuning Market Association, Inc. He added that future plans include participation in wedding fairs, fashion shows, expos, study tours, and technical training to expand market reach.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte visited the hub over the weekend, highlighting that the project supports small businesses and preserves the city’s cultural identity.

Janice Balindo-Santos, president of the shop owners’ group, noted that the modern facility has enhanced the marketability and professionalism of the shops. Organizers also plan an annual calendar of activities tied to seasonal demand, including weddings, graduations, religious festivals, indigenous fashion, and corporate clients.
