The Sibalom Water District (SWD) has inaugurated a PHP 5.4 million pumping station to provide residents with a steady supply of potable water.
Commissioned on Aug. 12, the sixth pumping station comes ahead of the opening of classes at the University of Antique (UA) main campus and addresses the growing demand from households and businesses.
“With this facility, we can supply an additional 72,000 cubic meters of water to boarding houses near UA and our service areas in Sibalom’s town proper, ensuring a reliable supply,” said SWD General Manager Jonathan De Gracia.
The SWD currently sources 200,000 cubic meters from five existing stations but aims to build at least one new facility each year to keep up with rising demand.
The new station increases service coverage from 4,000 to 6,000 connections, with water now available 24/7. SWD is also scouting for a new site to serve higher-elevation areas, including Sibalom Poblacion District 4, Bari, Bongsod, and Daramukol.
