DUMAGUETE CITY – The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) seized some 1,760.13 grams of shabu worth P11.9 million in May, an official said on Monday.

NOPPO spokesperson Lt. Stephen Polinar told the Philippine News Agency that enhanced police operations contributed to the accomplishment.

“We noted an increased demand for shabu as people returned to the province for the May 12 elections and the supply coming in from other areas also rose,” Polinar said in an interview.

Polinar said 37 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted last month, with 43 persons arrested, including eight high-value individuals and 35 street-level suspects.

Meanwhile, Polinar said Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations May 29 to 31 netted over 700 individuals for various offenses, including illegal drug possession and sales, illegal gambling, loose firearms, existing cases, and violations of local ordinances. (PNA)
