Negros Oriental cops seize P1.2-M in shabu

Police authorities in Negros Oriental seized more than Php 1.2 million worth of suspected shabu during 42 anti-illegal drug operations across the province in February, an official said on Tuesday.

Capt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, said the accomplishment reflects the province’s sustained campaign against illegal drugs.

Polinar added that the operations led to the arrest of five high-value targets and 40 street-level individuals for illegal drug possession and selling.

During the same period, efforts against loose firearms resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery or confiscation of 55 firearms.

Of these, seven firearms were voluntarily surrendered, seven were recovered during Oplan Katok, and 41 were confiscated through other police operations.

Polinar also reported that police conducted 94 operations against wanted persons in February.

These operations resulted in the arrest of 35 most wanted individuals, including five at the regional level, 12 at the provincial level, 10 at the city level, and eight at the municipal level.

In addition, 59 other wanted individuals were apprehended during the same period.
