Dengue infections in Negros Occidental fell sharply in the first five weeks of 2026, according to figures released by the Provincial Health Office.
Health surveillance data showed that only 141 cases are recorded from Jan. 4 to Feb. 7, a significant decline from the same period last year.
Provincial officials said the figure reflects an 80.28 percent decrease compared with the 715 cases logged in early 2025.
The PHO also reported that no deaths related to dengue are recorded during the monitoring period.
Among local government units, San Carlos City and Bago City registered the highest number of cases, with 18 infections each.
Most patients belong to the 1- to 10-year-old age group, although cases range from infants to adults aged 63.
Dengue is a viral disease transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which commonly breed in stagnant water.
