NDRRMC reports 1.59-M Mindanao quake victims

In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said 1,599,350 individuals, or 375,664 families, were affected in 580 barangays in the Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

Of the affected population, 22,109 people were staying in evacuation centers, while 63,351 others were being served outside evacuation sites.

The NDRRMC also reported 77 confirmed deaths, 1,339 injured persons, and 31 still missing.

The agency said one person in Glan, Sarangani, who had earlier been listed as both dead and missing, was verified as dead and removed from the list of missing persons.

The quake also damaged 130 road sections and 47 bridges in the Davao Region and Soccsksargen, while power lines in 47 cities and municipalities were affected, with service restored in 14 areas.

The NDRRMC recorded 68,511 partially damaged houses and 14,234 destroyed homes in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro region, with infrastructure damage estimated at Php 1.356 billion.

The agency said Php 318.66 million worth of assistance had been provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Office of Civil Defense, and local governments. PhilSA also reported possible quake-induced landslides covering about 137.87 hectares in parts of Glan, Sarangani, and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
