The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Wednesday that 1,080,389 families, or 4.1 million individuals, have been affected by recent severe weather across 16 regions.
As of Wednesday morning, 22,624 families are taking shelter in 1,123 evacuation centers, while 11,528 families are staying with relatives or elsewhere.
The NDRRMC confirmed 37 reported deaths, with only four verified in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The remaining 33 are still under validation: 19 in Bicol Region, eight in Cagayan Valley, two in Central Luzon, two in Central Visayas, one in Eastern Visayas, and one in Mimaropa.
A total of 88,743 houses were damaged, including 72,718 partially and 16,025 totally destroyed. Damage to agriculture reached PHP1.64 billion, while infrastructure losses were estimated at PHP1.005 billion.
The devastation was caused by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon (habagat) and tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong.
