The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) called on government agencies, banks and private establishments to honor the digital National Senior Citizens ID as valid identification for elderly Filipinos.

In an advisory issued on May 30, the agency said seniors using the digital ID should continue to enjoy statutory benefits, including discounts and tax exemptions, in their transactions.

Officials urged institutions to recognize the app based ID across all services, noting that refusal to accept it could lead to inconvenience and possible discrimination against older persons.

NCSC chairperson Merceditas Gutierrez said the digital ID carries the same validity as other government issued identification available through the eGovPH platform.

She said the system was designed to make transactions easier for senior citizens and improve access to services without relying on physical documents.

The digital ID, which can be accessed through a government mobile application, may be used to claim the 20 percent discount and value added tax exemption on medicines, food, transport and other covered purchases.

It may also be presented when availing of government assistance, priority lanes and other benefits in both public offices and private establishments, including banking transactions.

The digital NSCID was rolled out in August 2025 as part of efforts to modernize service delivery, with the agency reporting that more than 1.3 million senior citizens had already accessed the platform as of April 2026.
