Easterlies continued to drive scattered rain showers across parts of the country on Wednesday, while localized thunderstorms added to the mix, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the warm and humid winds from the Pacific were affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas, resulting in cloudy skies and occasional downpours.
The state bureau said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that earlier affected Mindanao had already moved offshore and no longer had a direct impact on the country.
With the weather system gone, generally fair conditions prevailed over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao, although isolated rains still developed in some areas.
Authorities warned that thunderstorms could still trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in areas experiencing intense afternoon or evening rains.
Hot and humid weather persisted during the day, increasing the chances of sudden thunderstorms forming later.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country saw partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with brief rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
No gale warning was in effect, with sea conditions remaining generally moderate across the country’s coastlines.
