Six Manila police officers are facing summary dismissal and criminal charges after being arrested for allegedly robbing a hotel guest in Makati City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Thursday.
The suspects include one police sergeant and five rookie officers assigned to the Manila Police District (MPD), who were apprehended Wednesday in a follow-up operation.
NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the officers are in detention and will face “airtight” criminal cases.
“These police scalawags will also face administrative charges which will result in their dismissal from the service at the soonest possible time,” Aberin added.
According to the victim, armed men entered his hotel room after a night out in Malate, held him at gunpoint, forced him to the floor, tied his hands, and fled on motorcycles with his belongings.
In response, Aberin ordered the immediate relief of the Malate Police Station commander and all members of its Station Drug Enforcement Unit.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing, and the case highlights efforts to address misconduct within the police force.
