The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported Thursday that a man voluntarily surrendered to its National Capital Region (NCR) office on February 4, 2026, following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 52 in Manila City in connection with a rape case under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1(b) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by R.A. No. 8353.
The suspect appeared at the NBI–NCR office in Ermita, Manila, after his legal counsel coordinated his intent to submit to lawful custody.
The case stems from a complaint by a woman identified as “Anna,” who alleged that the suspect offered to help her reconcile with her husband. According to the complaint, they visited several establishments along Tomas Morato Avenue with other individuals, including a police officer, a barangay official, and a female companion.
Anna claimed that after her last drink, she lost consciousness and later suspected her beverage had been tampered with. She said she regained awareness inside a motel room, where the alleged assault occurred and stopped once she regained consciousness.
Authorities said the suspect had feared for his safety due to circulating reports identifying him as a fugitive. Previous reports also noted that he had gone absent without official leave from his work before surrendering.
The accused is now in NBI–NCR custody and will be processed and turned over to the appropriate court for legal proceedings. NBI Director Angelito Magno said the surrender “upholds the rule of law” and assured that the investigation will be conducted professionally, impartially, and in accordance with due process.
