The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has warned criminology interns that violations of traffic laws, including riding motorcycles without helmets, could result in their applications to join the Philippine National Police (PNP) being rejected.
NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the commission would identify and document criminology interns caught violating traffic regulations and would not process their applications for police service or entertain their applications for NAPOLCOM examinations.
Calinisan also encouraged the public to take photographs of criminology interns committing traffic violations to help authorities identify those involved.
He urged criminology schools to take an active role in disciplining their students and ensuring that violations are addressed before they pursue careers in law enforcement.
The NAPOLCOM official stressed that respect for the law, accountability, and discipline must be demonstrated long before an individual officially becomes a police officer.
The warning reinforces the commission’s emphasis on responsible conduct among aspiring law enforcement personnel, particularly in observing traffic rules and promoting road safety.
