The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) continues to build its case over the alleged assault of a driver linked to actress Rhian Ramos, as the National Police Commission (Napolcom) moves to help identify police officers who were on duty at the time.
Investigators say the driver, known as “Totoy,” filed a complaint that may lead to administrative sanctions against several Makati police officers. He claims he was beaten while in custody at the Makati Police Station for a qualified theft case.
According to the NBI, Totoy alleged that he was taken to a separate room inside the station during his detention and assaulted by police officers whose identities remain unknown.
To address this, Napolcom has offered assistance on the administrative aspect of the case, including the identification of police personnel who were assigned to the station during the period of detention.
The commission is expected to provide the NBI with a list and photographs of officers on duty, which will be shown to the complainant to help him identify his alleged attackers.
Earlier, the Makati City Police said they would cooperate with the NBI’s investigation and open their facilities to investigators.
NBI agents and the complainant were later allowed to conduct a walkthrough of the police station, during which Totoy identified the area where he said the assault occurred.
The NBI also obtained closed-circuit television footage and interviewed several officers, but said it would not disclose details as it continues to gather and evaluate additional evidence.
