Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing will make his first official visit to Thailand since taking office when he travels to Bangkok from Aug. 6 to 7, the Thai Foreign Ministry said.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul invited Min Aung Hlaing for the two-day visit, which will include bilateral talks on political and economic cooperation.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss coordination within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and other issues affecting their neighboring countries.
Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to meet Thailand’s acting National Assembly president and Senate president during the trip.
He will also preside over the opening of the Thailand-Myanmar Business Forum 2026, which is expected to highlight trade and investment opportunities.
The visit marks Min Aung Hlaing’s first official trip to Thailand since becoming Myanmar’s president in April.
Min Aung Hlaing previously served as military chief and led the February 2021 takeover that removed the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
The coup triggered widespread resistance and a prolonged armed conflict that continues to destabilize Myanmar.
