Several atmospheric conditions combined to bring unsettled weather to large portions of the country on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
The weather bureau said a shear line affected the Visayas and parts of southern Luzon, including Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate, as well as areas in Caraga such as Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands, leading to overcast skies with intermittent rain and thunderstorms.
Due to the anticipated rainfall, Pagasa raised a yellow rainfall warning in Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, indicating moderate to occasionally heavy precipitation within a 24-hour period.
Authorities warned that the volume of rain could trigger flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying villages and geologically vulnerable areas.
At the same time, the northeast monsoon continued to influence northern and central Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light rains to Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon and the rest of the Bicol Region.
Metro Manila and nearby provinces also experienced amihan-driven conditions, marked by cooler temperatures, cloud cover and isolated light rain.
Elsewhere, most parts of Mindanao were forecast to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with brief rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances, while Pagasa said no low-pressure area was being tracked inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
