The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted surprise inspections in several bus terminals ahead of the Undas exodus to ensure only age-appropriate content is shown in public transport.
According to the agency, its Monitoring and Inspection Unit carried out the checks on October 20, 27, and 29 in Manila, Caloocan, Pasay (Buendia), and Cubao, Quezon City. The goal was to verify that operators and drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) were screening only G (General Audience) and PG (Parental Guidance) rated materials.
“The activity underscores the Agency’s commitment to promote responsible and age-appropriate viewing, particularly in public spaces where families and children are likely to be present,” the MTRCB said.
No violations were found during the inspection. The board also distributed information materials and placed tarpaulins in waiting areas to remind travelers and operators of proper content standards.
MTRCB Chair and CEO Lala Sotto emphasized the importance of maintaining safe media spaces for all passengers. “This is part of our larger responsibility to ensure that every commuter, particularly commuting Filipino children, will experience a safe and family-friendly environment, even while in transit,” she said.
