Police arrested a man tagged as a high value fugitive who was facing 16 outstanding warrants of arrest during an early morning operation in Quezon City on Wednesday.
Authorities said the 40 year old suspect, who uses several aliases including Yag ao, Lucky, Laki, Mon, and Red, was apprehended at around 3:30 a.m. in East Fairview.
The arrest was carried out by operatives from the Quezon City Police District after weeks of surveillance to confirm the suspect’s whereabouts.
Police said the warrants were issued by a Regional Trial Court in Kalinga and covered several serious offenses.
These included one count of destructive arson, one count of murder, three counts of frustrated murder, and 11 counts of attempted murder.
Philippine National Police chief Jose Nartatez commended the operating units for the successful operation, saying authorities had long been pursuing the suspect and were now able to hold him accountable before the law.
He said the arrest showed that individuals with pending court warrants cannot evade authorities and will eventually be brought to justice.
Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to a hospital for medical examination before being transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District for documentation and further legal procedures.
