Police arrested a high-profile fugitive wanted for multiple murder cases in an early morning operation in General Santos City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
The suspect, a 45-year-old man, was apprehended in Barangay Apopong at around 12:40 a.m. on April 25 following a coordinated manhunt involving local police and intelligence units.
Authorities said the arrest was carried out after receiving and validating information on the suspect’s whereabouts.
The individual was listed under the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s most wanted persons list, with a reward of P250,000 offered for his capture.
Police said the suspect was facing 56 counts of murder, along with another separate murder case, all issued by a court in Quezon City with no bail recommended.
After his arrest, the suspect was informed of his rights and underwent a medical examination before being transferred to a detention facility.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest stemmed from sustained intelligence work and coordination among units.
“He said police operations against fugitives facing serious criminal charges would continue, emphasizing that law enforcement efforts would remain within legal bounds,” he added.
