The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it dismissed 1,120 personnel and suspended 1,425 others last year following the resolution of thousands of administrative cases.
PNP records showed penalties were imposed in more than half of the 4,203 administrative complaints filed in 2025, involving a total of 6,527 police officers and civilian employees.
Most of the cases involved police noncommissioned officers, followed by commissioned officers and a smaller number of non-uniformed personnel, according to the PNP Discipline, Law and Order Division.
The police organization said 1,369 cases resulted either in dismissal or exoneration, while the rest ended with corrective sanctions rather than outright penalties.
Aside from dismissals and suspensions, other punishments included reprimands, demotions, forfeiture of pay, restrictions, and the withholding of privileges.
Acting PNP chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the figures reflected the organization’s adherence to accountability and due process in resolving complaints.
“Wearing a uniform is a privilege, not a right… Those who betray public trust will be held accountable, while those found innocent will be cleared of their names,” Nartatez said, warning erring officers that violations will not go unpunished.
