Meralco is reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most recognized corporate sustainability leaders, earning a string of international and local honors that underscore how deeply it has embedded environmental, social, and governance principles into its business.
Guided by its sustainability agenda, “Powering the Good Life,” the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led power distributor continues to align its operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals while advancing programs built around its four pillars of Power, Planet, People, and Prosperity.
That commitment translated into a landmark performance at the 2025 International Business Awards, where Meralco secured an all-time best 15 Stevie Awards, placing it among the most decorated organizations in a field of roughly 3,800 nominations from more than 70 countries.
The company brought home five Gold Stevie Awards, including recognition for sustainability leadership, sustainability initiative of the year, investor engagement, and sustainability storytelling through video. Meralco Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo also earned top honors for his role in integrating sustainability into the company’s long-term strategy and operations.
For Meralco, the awards were more than just trophies. They reflected how sustainability has moved beyond corporate messaging and into the core of the business, from strengthening grid resilience through its “Greening the Network” initiative to building investor confidence through strategic engagement platforms such as Meralco Powerhouse.
Its flagship clean energy narratives, including the visual presentation of MTerra Solar and BulacanSol, also helped spotlight the company’s role in supporting the Philippines’ energy transition.
The recognition did not stop there. Meralco also captured eight Silver Stevies and two Bronze Stevies, highlighting the breadth of its sustainability and stakeholder programs. Among those honored were its diversity and inclusion platform #Mbrace, its Race to Zero Waste program, and the work of One Meralco Foundation in bringing electricity and opportunity to underserved communities. The company’s 2023 annual and sustainability report, Pangako, likewise received recognition for transparency and reporting excellence.
At the 2025 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, Meralco added 11 more awards to its growing collection, further strengthening its reputation as a regional leader in climate action, inclusion, and employee engagement. Ravelo was named Climate Hero of the Year, while the company’s circular economy and sustainability campaigns also earned honors.
These citations highlighted Meralco’s ability to combine business performance with environmental stewardship and social impact in ways that resonate across markets and industries.
Meralco has also been drawing praise for how it tells its sustainability story. Its first-ever integrated report, the One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report, received the Platinum Award at the 11th Asia Integrated Reporting Awards, recognized as the highest-scoring inaugural entry across Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.
The report marked a significant milestone for the company, adopting both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard ahead of regulatory requirements. It also introduced Meralco’s first double materiality assessment, reflecting a more advanced and comprehensive approach to sustainability reporting.
That reporting discipline was further affirmed by a Silver Rank at the 2025 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating, the sixth straight year that Meralco has been recognized in the program. The distinction pointed to the company’s strong alignment with Global Reporting Initiative standards and its continued effort to provide stakeholders with a clearer picture of its ESG governance, risks, performance, and long-term direction.
Back home, Meralco also emerged as Company of the Year at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards after collecting 36 honors for communications excellence. The recognition reflected how the company has successfully translated its sustainability agenda into campaigns and platforms that engage employees, customers, communities, and other stakeholders.
Programs such as the Meralco Sustainability Microsite, the One Meralco Sustainability Roadshows, and #Mbrace were among those cited, reinforcing the idea that sustainability at Meralco is not only operational, but cultural and deeply communicated across the organization.
Taken together, the awards paint the picture of a company that is not merely responding to the demands of sustainability, but helping shape the conversation around it. In an era when businesses are under increasing pressure to prove that growth, resilience, and responsibility can go hand in hand, Meralco is making the case that a power company can do more than keep the lights on. It can help drive inclusive progress, champion cleaner and smarter energy systems, and build long-term value for the communities and country it serves.
