The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has intensified its partnership with the Makati City government to clear tangled wires and ensure safer streets for residents.

In a recent clearing operation along Camia Street, Mayor Nancy Binay underscored how teamwork between local governments and the private sector is key to the program’s success. She also reminded all utility providers—including telecommunications and internet companies—of their duty to secure permits before attaching wires to Meralco’s poles.

So far this year, Meralco has removed more than 2,000 kilograms of illegal and hazardous wire attachments across Makati, reducing risks of accidents and service disruptions.

Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga reaffirmed the company’s commitment: “Meralco will continue to carry out these clearing operations with LGUs not only to protect the integrity of our facilities, but more importantly, to safeguard the public.”
