Meralco has turned Plaza Roma in Intramuros into a glowing holiday destination once again, officially lighting up the much-loved Liwanag Park for its second straight year. The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led company, together with the One Meralco Foundation (OMF) and the Intramuros Administration, unveiled the Christmas attraction in a festive switch-on ceremony held on November 26, 2025.

Families, tourists, and heritage enthusiasts can look forward to a brighter Intramuros this Christmas season. Leading the ceremonial lighting were OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao, Intramuros Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand Geluz, and Senior Vice President and Chief External and Government Affairs Officer Atty. Arnel Paciano D. Casanova.

This year’s Liwanag Park highlights Meralco’s commitment to sustainability and Filipino creativity. Standing tall at 20 feet is a Christmas tree crafted from recycled meter covers and steel crossarms, illuminated entirely by LED bulbs. Adding to the charm is a replica of a Meralco tranvia built from recycled wooden boards—an homage to Manila’s storied past and the company’s historic roots.

The Meralco Liwanag Park at Plaza Roma is open daily from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. until January 4, 2026, offering a magical night-time experience in the heart of the walled city—just in time for the holidays.
