Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has assured customers of uninterrupted and reliable electricity service throughout the Holy Week, with teams on standby to respond to any concerns.
“As the nation observes a solemn and safe Holy Week, we want to reassure our customers that Meralco is fully prepared to address any power-related issues. Our crews remain ready to serve 24/7,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications.
With Holy Week overlapping with the dry season, Meralco is also urging the public to stay mindful of electrical safety and energy efficiency. To help ensure a safe and stress-free break, customers are encouraged to follow these safety tips:
- Unplug appliances not in use, especially when leaving home for extended periods
- Avoid overloading power outlets with “octopus connections” to prevent overheating and fire hazards
- Do not run electrical cords under rugs or carpets, as this can damage insulation and create safety risks
- Keep electrical wires neatly organized and safely stored
- Ensure electrical devices are kept away from water sources such as sinks, showers, and bathtubs
To help manage power consumption, customers can use the Appliance Calculator available on the My Meralco app, which provides useful insights on the electricity usage of common gadgets and appliances.
Although Meralco Business Centers will be closed from April 17 (Maundy Thursday) to April 20 (Easter Sunday), customer service remains accessible. Customers can reach Meralco through the My Meralco app, Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco), Twitter (@meralco), or by texting 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211. The Meralco Hotline is also available at 16211 and 8631-1111.
