ENERGIZING GROWTH. Meralco has recently commissioned the Mesaland 115 kV-34.5 kV Substation in Sta. Rosa, Laguna to ensure a more reliable and stable power supply in the surrounding high-growth areas.
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has energized a new substation in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, to meet the rising power demands of the area’s expanding residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
Located in Hacienda Sta. Elena, the newly commissioned Mesaland 115 kV–34.5 kV Substation is designed to enhance power quality and reliability in key areas of Laguna—specifically Sta. Rosa and Cabuyao—as well as parts of Cavite, including Silang and Tagaytay City. This initiative highlights Meralco’s continued commitment to supporting the region’s rapid economic and urban growth.
The project includes the installation of an 83-megavolt-ampere (MVA) power transformer, which will support four new 34.5 kV distribution feeders. To ensure a steady and reliable power supply, the substation features two 115 kV sub-transmission feeds, made possible through a cut-in to the existing Sta. Rosa 2–Light Industry and Science Park 115-kV line.
This configuration enables N-1 contingency, providing backup power capacity in case of system disruptions.
Numerous residential communities and essential institutions are expected to benefit from the new facility. These include Treveia, Adventist University of the Philippines, The Medical City South Luzon, Zadia Towers, Hacienda Sta. Elena, The Sonoma Residences, Abrio, Santierra, Lumira, and Venare.
The substation will also support the power needs of major commercial and business establishments such as Landers Superstore, S&R, Ayala Malls Solenad, Robinsons Nuvali, The Landmark Supermarket, Seda Hotel, Concentrix, Asurion, AllHome Sta. Rosa, Vista Mall Sta. Rosa, Paseo de Sta. Rosa, and Promenade Sta. Rosa.
The development of the Mesaland Substation is part of Meralco’s broader effort to upgrade and expand its distribution system, ensuring the delivery of safe, stable, and reliable electricity to its customers.
“The newly energized Mesaland Substation underscores Meralco’s unwavering commitment to quality and continuous service improvement, meeting the growing power demands of commercial, industrial, and residential customers in Sta. Rosa and nearby areas,” said Froilan J. Savet, Meralco First Vice President and Head of Networks. “As part of our dedication to supporting economic growth, we will continue investing in the expansion and enhancement of our distribution network to provide efficient and reliable power for the communities we serve.”
