The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace as it marked its third consecutive year of celebrating Pride Month through meaningful activities that promote acceptance, respect, and belonging.
Anchored on its #Mbrace Diversity & Inclusion program, the company continues to strengthen initiatives that champion gender equality, empower women, and advance the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
This year’s celebration transformed Meralco offices into vibrant symbols of solidarity, featuring rainbow crosswalks at the company’s headquarters in Pasig and sector offices across its service area. Employees also took part in group photo campaigns, personal storytelling initiatives, and the “Safe to Be Me” webinar, which encouraged conversations on awareness, allyship, and the shared responsibility of creating safe and inclusive workplaces.
A highlight of the celebration was the gathering of Meralco’s senior leaders at the rainbow crosswalk—a powerful symbol of the company’s unwavering support for diversity and inclusion. More than a Pride display, the crosswalk represents Meralco’s continuing commitment to building a workplace where every employee feels respected, valued, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
Present during the activity were Meralco Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Marilene P. Tayag; First Vice President and Head of Facilities, Safety and Security Management Jerry B. Lao; Senior Vice President and Head of DU Subsidiaries and Strategic Partnerships Ferdinand O. Geluz; Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel V. Rubio; Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho; Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Relations & Services Charina P. Padua; Senior Vice President and Head of Networks Froilan J. Savet; First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo; and Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.
By actively participating in the Pride Month celebration, the company’s leaders underscored the critical role leadership plays in cultivating a culture rooted in empathy, respect, and belonging. Their visible support reinforces that inclusion is not only embedded in policies and programs but is also demonstrated through everyday actions that create a safe environment for everyone.
As One Meralco, the company remains steadfast in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across its organization, continuously creating spaces where fairness, respect, and equal opportunities thrive—helping shape a more compassionate, inclusive, and future-ready workforce.
