In a strategic move to keep pace with the fast-growing energy demands of Metro Manila’s key business and residential hubs, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), under the leadership of Manuel V. Pangilinan, has completed a major expansion of its Fort Bonifacio Global City-2 Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation.
The newly upgraded facility includes the commissioning of an 83-megavolt ampere (MVA) power transformer and a 34.5 kilovolt (kV) GIS, designed to significantly enhance power capacity and distribution flexibility in Taguig’s Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and parts of Makati City. This development ensures greater reliability for both current and future electricity needs in these dynamic urban centers.
Key institutions and businesses set to benefit from this infrastructure upgrade include the Department of Energy, St. Luke’s Medical Center, the Philippine National Oil Company, Market! Market!, and the Serendra residential complex—further solidifying Meralco’s role in powering critical services and vibrant communities.
