Antipolo City — The early morning sun lit up the rolling hills of Rizal as nearly 100 cyclists pedaled through Antipolo for the first-ever Tour de McDo in the province, McDonald’s Philippines’ latest celebration of National Bike Day last November 23. What unfolded was not just a ride—it was a scenic, community-powered push for sustainable and active mobility.

The 25-kilometer route showcased Antipolo’s lush greenery, winding ascents, and iconic city viewpoints, making for a fun but meaningful ride. The tour began and ended at the McDonald’s Mambugan branch, one of the company’s nine Green and Good flagship stores built around eco-friendly, future-forward innovations.

These Green and Good stores champion sustainability through solar panels, solar-powered lampposts, rainwater harvesting systems, motion-sensor lighting, and energy-efficient cooling. They also offer Bike & Dine stations—dedicated outdoor spots where cyclists can rest, securely park their bikes, and even access repair tools as they enjoy their favorite McDo meals. The other Green and Good stores are located in Manila, Mandaluyong, Tagaytay, Laguna, Quezon City, Tarlac, Davao City, and Cebu.

For cyclists who missed the ride but want to experience the scenic route, the official Tour de McDo Rizal map is available on Strava for their next weekend adventure.

The Antipolo event marked McDonald’s third major ride this year, following a summer kickoff in Baguio City and a World Bicycle Month celebration in Makati.

“McDonald’s has made great strides in promoting sustainable practices and innovations,” said Denise Barrameda, McDonald’s Corporate Communications Senior Manager. “We’re thrilled to see our customers match that passion through Tour De McDo. Our goal is to grow Ride the Arches into a bigger, more inclusive movement as we open more Green and Good stores and deepen our commitment to sustainability, health, and community well-being.”

McDonald’s Ride the Arches, launched in February 2023, is the world’s first cycling initiative that encourages riders to travel from one Golden Arch to another—making each ride both a fitness activity and a community experience.

After completing the Rizal route, cyclists were treated to a hearty serving of McDonald’s Golden Chicken Curry with Egg, Rice, and Orange Juice, along with an exclusive Green and Good shirt. Prizes such as gift certificates and Be Our Guest cards were raffled off to lucky participants.

Riders also dropped by the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) booth, where they purchased limited-edition RMHC socks—proceeds of which will support the Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers, safe and nurturing spaces where young children can learn and play.

And the celebration continues. From October 26 to November 30, cyclists nationwide can enjoy the special Cyclist Meal—Golden Chicken Curry with Egg, Rice, and Small Orange Juice—for only ₱109 via the McDonald’s App, available from 4:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. at all McDonald’s branches.

With its push toward active mobility and sustainability, Tour de McDo Rizal turned National Bike Day into a festive, meaningful ride—one pedal stroke at a time.
